A Complete, Total and Authentic Restoration
INTERIOR
This beautiful Federal native sandstone house contains nearly all of it's original fabric and is about 98% original. Special care was taken to preserve the integrity of this historic house during the restoration. The original windows were restored and old glass was used to replace modern glass. All interior and exterior doors and millwork were carefully preserved. The only components which are not original to the main structure is the floor in the dining room, and a cupboard and fireplace mantel in the upstairs blue bedroom. Reclaimed heart pine was used on the dining room floor to match the original heart pine throughout the house, and the mantel was copied from the office mantel. The cupboard was reconstructed based on other cupboards and the ghost lines of the original remaining on the walls.
A paint conservator was retained to identify the original color palette and care was taken to replicate the colors as close as possible. The brilliant prussian blue colors in the dining room and verdigris green in the parlor were described by the conservator as very expensive imported colors in that time. Faux granite was replicated on the central hall and parlor dado. The south two chimney flues were totally dismantled, stone by stone, and totally restored to their original condition.
